ROTARY ACTION GROUP FOR REFUGEES, FORCED DISPLACEMENT, AND MIGRATION
WHY AN ACTION GROUP?
At the end of 2021, 89.3 million people had been forcibly displaced. This is more than twice the level a decade ago at 42.7 million. Of the 89.3 forcibly displaced people, 53.2 million are internally displaced, 27.1 million are refugees, and 4.6 million are asylum seekers. Preliminary estimates suggest that as of early June 2022, due to the war in in Ukraine, the number of forcibly displaced people topped more than 100 million.
Our Rotary Action Group ("RAG") was created to help Rotarians and other people of action confront the refugee and displacement crisis through projects and knowledge.
