ROTARY ACTION GROUP FOR REFUGEES, FORCED DISPLACEMENT, AND MIGRATION

WHY AN ACTION GROUP?
According to UNHCR's latest estimates, 117.3 million people are forcibly displaced. This is more almost three times the level of 15 years ago. Of those, 36.4 million are refugees, and 8.4 million are asylum seekers.
The countries with the largest refugee populations are Venezuela, the Syrian Arab Republic, Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Sudan. The countries hosting the largest numbers of refugees are Colombia, Germany, Türkiye, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Uganda.
Our Rotary Action Group ("RAG") was created to help Rotarians and other people of action confront the refugee and displacement crisis through projects and knowledge.
EDUCATION IN EMERGENCY SETTING
The RAG will participate in a series of webinars from May to July 2026 organized by UNESCO IICBA with the African Union with a focus on strengthening teacher professional development in refugee settings. More info to come soon.
